21-Day Challenge

I Can Do Hard Things!

21-Day Challenge

What is the challege?

Have you heard of 75 Hard? It’s a program that challenges you to 75 days of doing really hard things. I am not here to knock that program, but in the back of my mind, I have always had a reservation about it. I even bought the book and read it and I was definitely not sold. See, I have done it the all or nothing way….the take no rest days way…the pursue goals at the cost of everything way, and it didn’t turn out well for me. I wound up a slave to body shame, eating disorders, and workout addiction. As I pondered a way to do it better, I felt God prompting me to write this program. For 21 days, I will ask you to dig deep and do hard things, but I will also cover you with grace, point you to Jesus, and help you find freedom along the way. The goal of this challenge isn’t a physical transformation, it’s a renewing of the mind and a breaking of addiction that will help you live differently and see the fruit of a transformed body as a result.

Who is this challenge for?

As I was writing this, I knew this program wouldn’t be for everyone, but I knew it would be for someone!! It doesn’t have that exciting, sexy feel of the fast results that others in the industry promise, but it does have the potential to be the lasting change that you have been craving! You may be the one I wrote this for if you check any of the following boxes.

You completely neglect your body.

You run from hard things like the plague…in fact, running away from hard things is the only kind of running you are interested in doing. The idea of working out and eating right are the farthest things from your mind because you just don’t feel like you can or want to add another thing to your plate.

You are forever dieting.

You count calories and do cardio and are just in a constant state of back and forth. You do good all week but then blow it on the weekend effectively gaining back every pound that you lost during the week. You never enjoy your food because you are either restricting and cutting out the foods you love or binging and feeling guilty for the foods you indulge in.

You are obsessed with body goals.

You feel a deep need to prove yourself by making yourself strong or beautiful. You are working hard for a certain body goal and so hopeful that when you finally hit that goal, everything will fall into place just like you had always dreamed. You feel that when you ‘arrive’ you will finally feel confident and that number on the scale will somehow bring you every bit of happiness that your heart is so longing for!

You are confused when it comes to fitness and nutrition.

You want to start; you just don’t know where!! ‘Aunt Judy’s sister did keto and lost 50 pounds but my friend Karen’s doctor says keto is bad for you. On the other hand, Sam’s roommate, Chad, does paleo and CrossFit and he looks like a Greek god…maybe that’s the one for me!!’ Goodness, there are so many fad diets out there that no wonder it is confusing!! Whole30, paleo, clean eating, sugar-free, low fat, low carb, the list goes on and on and on and on and on and on…you get the point! It’s all so confusing that you just don’t bother starting anything at all!

If you fall into any of those categories, you are in the right place! We are going to cover how you should eat, how you should train, and how you can do it all in a way that will hold value in this life and in the life to come!

Why should you do this challenge?

So why should you listen to me? What qualifications do I have? In short, none that the world would be concerned about. My qualifications are not of this world and can be summed up by these verses:

Take a good look, friends, at who you were when you got called into this life. I don’t see many of “the brightest and the best” among you, not many influential, not many from high-society families. Isn’t it obvious that God deliberately chose men and women that the culture overlooks and exploits and abuses, choosing these “nobodies” to expose the hollow pretensions of the “somebodies”? That makes it quite clear that none of you can get by with blowing your own horn before God. Everything that we have—right thinking and right living, a clean slate, and a fresh start—comes from God by way of Jesus Christ. That’s why we have the saying, “If you’re going to blow a horn, blow a trumpet for God.” -1 Corinthians 1:26-31 MSG

I won’t toot my own horn and hand out my qualifications or limitations, but I will shout from the rooftops the incredible, transforming power of inviting God into every area of your life.

I am simply a girl who is fighting with her most powerful weapon, her testimony. I have been in every one of the places listed above and have found overwhelming victory.

In one season, I was overweight and neglectful.

In another, I was confused and stagnant.

In another, I was in a never-ending cycle of dieting.

In another, I was obsessed and striving.

I transformed my body, hit my goal weight and in the process, completely lost myself. Sure, my body looked better, but I felt no better on the inside. I thought for sure that when I got to my goal body, I’d finally feel confident and complete but that was not the case at all. I have done it all the wrong way, but in the last few years, I have spent countless hours seeking God on how to do it the right way! In his goodness, he has revealed so many things to me and I simply must share them with the world!!

With that, I will share with you my focus of this 21-day challenge:

You CAN do hard things – but you don’t HAVE to do them to prove yourself!
